The History of Sheoga Hardwood Flooring Logo

Sheoga Hardwood Flooring takes its name from “Sheauga,” a Native American word associated with the raccoon and the rich heritage of Geauga County, Ohio. From the beginning, Sheoga has embraced the history, culture, and traditions of the region we call home.

Our logo features a Native American warrior as a tribute to the original inhabitants of this area and to the values often associated with a warrior: strength, sacrifice, responsibility, and service to others.

Geauga County’s history is shaped by communities known for their strong values and enduring traditions. Native American cultures emphasized family, community, respect for nature, and caring for future generations. Today, the county is also known for one of the nation’s largest Amish communities, whose traditions emphasize craftsmanship, hard work, simplicity, and stewardship.

These shared values—respect, dedication to craftsmanship, personal responsibility, and commitment to future generations—continue to inspire Sheoga Hardwood Flooring today.

“The warrior, for us, is one who sacrifices himself for the good of others. His task is to take care of the elderly, the defenseless, those who cannot provide for themselves, and above all, the children—the future of humanity.”
— Sitting Bull
